The only notable change that may affect some teams is the weight changes. This year the weights classes have changed, Heavy is now 200Kg instead of the previous 195kg.  Apart from that everything is still the same.  The rule book is now being typed up and will be uploaded once that is complete.

Please also note that 2008 will require ALL engines in the series to be sealed.  (Including both Queensland and NSW).  Engine Sealing is now available at Wollongong City Raceway (WCR)@ a cost of $75 per engine and must be booked in @ WCR prior to drop off.  The contact number is (02) 4260 9333.  Engine sealing is also still available through Troy Worsely on 0416 180 714.

All seals must be present at the start of the first race of 2008.  If by the end of the race a seal is missing it will be replaced by an official scrutineer.  If for any reason work is to be done on engines and they require re-sealing, the re-sealing must be carried out by an official engine sealer (WCR or Troy Worsely).  All Queensland teams will be notified of their official engine sealer shortly.

RACE SCHEDULE UPDATED and available from the normal location

I find myself and our organisation once again forced to make program changes to our race series through no fault of our own. It seems that in our tenth year it just wasn’t destined for things to run smoothly.

On the 19th of July all New South Wales clubs in the AKA decided unanimously to collectively increase the cost of hiring their venues. It is now not economically viable for us to continue to run race meetings at venues in New South Wales that are operated by AKA NSW clubs. As such both the round at Lismore (relocated to Dubbo) and Port Macquarie (relocated to Taree) are no longer possible.

It is our understanding having spoken with our solicitors and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission that a serious breach of the trade practices act has occurred. It will be a difficult and lengthy process to resolve, but we are committed to the challenge. After all, our very sport is in jeopardy.

Whilst some may be celebrating this latest attempt to stop us, they can rest assured that we will take each and every avenue open to ourselves to see justice done. If you are a dual license holder in our series, and a member of an AKA NSW club I would ask that you voice your objection directly with your club president. We would also like to know of your assistance.

We are committed to being independent and will not standby and allow this to happen.  Our next meeting will be at Raleigh International Raceway on August 23, we would ask that all our teams support us and ensure that we run a capacity field at the venue, thus sending a clear message to AKA NSW that we are a strong and united series.

We are currently in the process of booking venues for 2009 and intend that this Calendar will once again include AKA licensed venues. We will keep you all informed as to our progress and thank you for your support during this difficult time.

I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have on 02 4260 9333.
